Classic Style - The Life of a Modern Gentleman
Photography by Alicia Mara
Timeless, sophisticated and classic, here is one essential suit in any guy’s closet. The grey suit is beyond seasonal trends, a menswear staple that is perfect for any time of the year. This gingham blue dress shirt and suit is one of my go-to combos I can count on for business meetings and important events in my life. Pairing this look with a classic timeless style timepiece is a no-brainer. I’ve teamed up with Chopard to share my thoughts on the life of a modern gentleman.
I. Dress to Impress
In today’s world, it’s important to always present the best version of yourself. Be confident. This is an obvious rule for the job interview, big presentation meeting, and first dates. But also applies to the professional settings to the casual night out because you never know who you will meet one day.
II. Master The Classics
Like all things in life, you have to start with the baby steps. Especially in developing your style, it is important to master the classics. Get the essentials down in your wardrobe before getting too fancy and bold with patterns and accessories. Some menswear classic pieces are navy and grey suits, white dress shirts, brown brogues, and a timeless sharp timepiece like the Chopard Classic.
III. Invest in quality
It’s always a good time to start investing in quality. Quality items are ones that you can count on 10, 20 years down the line. The value will always pay off over time. Especially essential items that will be used time after time over the years. It is something that you can even pass on to the next generation.
IV. Set Goals
I’m sure you’ve been asked “What do you want to do in five years?” Honestly with today’s technology and pace, it’s hard to predict what will even happen within a year. But it is very important to set goals and work on reaching it. It can be daily goals, it can be monthly goals. I believe the modern gentleman is about working hard and constantly improving himself.
V. Seek Inspiration
Well sometimes inspiration isn’t just going to come to you, you’ll have to go out and find it. Find your inspiration to motivate you. I feel inspired every time I am on a rooftop overlooking NYC. It reminds me of my first home in Hong Kong and how far I’ve come in life.
VI. Balance Work & Play
Work hard, play hard right? It’s very important to have a balance in life. Spend quality time with friends and family. Take the time to enjoy life!
VII. Explore a new hobby
Mine has always been photography. I love capturing moments and it helps me remember those special memories. I also love basketball, food, and travel.
VIII. Travel & See The World
If there’s one thing anyone needs to do in life, I highly recommend traveling to a different country. There’s really no words to describe the experience. The exposure to a new country, new language, new way of living, new cuisine, and so on. It’s such a beautiful world out there for us to explore. More on travel in this pervious post with Chopard L.U.C.

ReplyDeleteThat suit looks a bit too big on you, sir. The excessive wrinkling of the sleeves and bad pant break threw me off. The watch and suit fabric look very nice and go well together, especially the colors. Overall, pretty good.
