Levitate Travel: Beijing, China

Levitate Style Travel Photo Diary: Beijing, China

Since Lunar New Year is coming up just around the corner, I wanted to celebrate the special occasion with this Levitate Travel feature of Beijing, China! Alicia and I have both traveled to Beijing once before but this was our first time going together. We were here for a few days to attend my college friend's wedding. We did manage to sneak in some sightseeing in between the rehearsal and wedding day. It's just awesome to travel the world and have friends everywhere because it makes the destination feel like a home. I really love Beijing for all the history, amazing buildings, and delicious food. There's so much to do and sights to capture. Since we've both been here before and had limited amount of time, we decided to stop by our favorite places and to explore some new spots.

-  WHAT TO DO -
Yonghe Temple - also known as Lama Temple, started in 1694
798 Art Zone - Surprising area of great street art + displays, not what you would typically think of with China
Temple of Heaven - one of my favorite spots
Houhai Lake - Back Lake for a beautiful and peaceful stroll
Jingshan Park - A quick & steep hike up for an awesome view of the city

Also must see: Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Beihai Park

-  WHERE TO EAT -
Donghuamen Night Market - Nonstop delicious street food!
Da Dong - Peking Duck, the most famous dish from Beijing
King's Joy Beijing - Fine dining vegetarian options

-  WHERE TO STAY -
Swissotel Beijing - conveniently located near most attractions

-  HOW TO GET AROUND -
Uber (!), Guided Tours, Subway trains
